Implant Surgery and Restoration

The Complete Implant Solution

Replacing a missing tooth is a two-step journey: restoring the root and restoring the crown. The surgical phase involves placing a biocompatible titanium post into the jawbone, where it acts as a sturdy anchor. We utilize advanced planning technology to ensure the implant is positioned perfectly for long-term stability and optimal aesthetics, making the minor surgical procedure quick and predictable.

Once the implant has integrated with your bone, we move to the restoration phase. We craft a custom-designed crown that connects to the implant, matching the color and shape of your surrounding teeth. This seamless process results in a replacement tooth that feels strong, functions flawlessly when you chew, and restores the completeness of your smile.

Is It for You?

Who Dental Implants in Dubai Suit, and Who Should Wait

A single-tooth implant is usually considered when one tooth is missing or has to be removed, for example after a fracture, failed root canal treatment or advanced decay, and the teeth on either side are healthy. Because the implant stands on its own, the neighboring teeth do not need to be trimmed for a bridge.

According to the American Academy of Periodontology, the best candidates have good general and oral health, enough jawbone to hold the implant, and gums free of periodontal disease. General health matters more than age. Some situations call for extra steps or a different plan:

  • Active gum disease: Treated and brought under control first.
  • Not enough bone: A bone graft or sinus lift may be needed before or during placement.
  • Smoking or poorly controlled diabetes: Both can slow healing, so we may advise quitting or better sugar control first.
  • Medical conditions or medicines that affect healing: We may ask your physician for input.

If an implant is not suitable, a conventional bridge or a removable partial denture remains a reasonable way to fill the gap.

Step by Step

How the Implant Surgery and Restoration Phases Work

  1. Assessment and planning: An examination, gum check and digital X-rays (with further imaging where needed) show the bone height, width and nearby structures before a position is chosen.
  2. Placement: Under local anesthesia, the gum is opened and a screw-shaped titanium implant is placed in the jawbone. The gum is closed over it or around a healing cap, and stitches are typically removed after 7 to 10 days.
  3. Integration: Over roughly 2 to 6 months, the bone bonds to the implant surface (osseointegration). A temporary tooth can usually be worn meanwhile.
  4. Uncovering, if required: With two-stage systems, the implant is exposed and a healing collar is fitted so the gum can shape around it for a couple of weeks.
  5. Abutment and crown: A connector (abutment) is attached and an impression is taken. The finished crown is fitted and the bite adjusted.

Expect several short visits over a few months. When bone and stability allow, some steps can be combined.

Recovery

Healing After Implant Placement

Mild aching, some swelling and slight bruising for a few days are normal, and most people manage with standard painkillers. Soft, cool foods and lukewarm soups are easiest at first. Chew on the other side until the area settles, keep the site clean as instructed, and avoid smoking, which slows healing.

Call the clinic if you have bleeding that does not slow with firm pressure, pain or swelling that gets worse after the third day, a bad taste or discharge, or if the implant or healing cap feels loose. Facial swelling with fever, or any difficulty swallowing or breathing, needs urgent medical care.

Once the crown is fitted, the implant needs the same daily brushing and cleaning between teeth as a natural tooth, plus regular check-ups. This helps prevent peri-implant disease, an infection of the gum and bone around an implant.

Planning & Cost

What Shapes Your Treatment Plan and How Long Implants Last

The plan, timeline and cost depend on:

  • Whether the tooth still needs removing, and whether the implant can go in at the same visit
  • Bone volume, and whether grafting or a sinus lift is needed
  • Position in the mouth, since front teeth demand more attention to gum shape and appearance
  • The type of temporary tooth and the abutment and crown materials
  • Your gum health and any treatment needed beforehand

Many implants serve for many years, but no implant is guaranteed for life. The crown can chip or wear and may need replacing over time. Long-term results depend heavily on home care, attending maintenance visits and not smoking. You will receive a written plan before treatment starts.

Single Implant or Conventional Bridge?

A conventional bridge is usually quicker, needs no surgery, and can suit people whose neighboring teeth already need crowns. However, those teeth must be trimmed to support it, and the bone under the missing tooth continues to shrink.

An implant replaces the root as well as the crown, which helps preserve the bone in that spot and leaves the adjacent teeth untouched. It takes longer and involves a minor surgical procedure. We go through both options with you before you decide.

Other Treatments We Offer

Deep Cleaning & Curettage

Gum disease often begins quietly, but if left untreated, bacteria can travel below the gumline where a toothbrush cannot reach, causing pockets of infection.

Flap Surgery

In cases of advanced periodontitis where deep pockets remain after initial cleaning, Flap Surgery may be necessary to save the teeth.

Bone Grafting & Tissue Grafting

Over time, missing teeth or gum disease can cause the jawbone to shrink or the gums to recede, exposing roots and compromising aesthetics.

Simple & Complex Implant supported restorations

Dental implants offer incredible versatility, whether you are missing a single tooth or an entire arch.
