Simple & Complex Implant Supported Restorations

Versatile Solutions for Missing Teeth

Dental implants offer incredible versatility, whether you are missing a single tooth or an entire arch. For simple restorations, we place a single crown on a single implant, avoiding the need to grind down neighboring teeth for a bridge. It is an elegant, standalone solution that preserves your natural tooth structure and stops bone loss in that specific area.

For more complex cases involving multiple missing teeth, we can design implant-supported bridges or even full-arch dentures. By strategically placing fewer implants to support a larger prosthetic, we can provide a fixed, non-removable solution that replaces dentures. This restores your ability to eat steak, apples, and other foods with full biting force, dramatically improving your quality of life.

Your Options

Which Implant Supported Restorations Fit Your Situation

The right restoration depends mainly on how many teeth are missing and how much bone remains. The main options are:

  • Single implant crown: One implant replaces one tooth.
  • Implant-supported bridge: Two or more implants carry a bridge that replaces three or more teeth in a row, so not every missing tooth needs its own implant.
  • Implant overdenture: A removable denture that clips onto implants or a bar. It suits people whose dentures are loose, especially in the lower jaw.
  • Fixed full-arch bridge: A complete set of teeth screwed onto several implants, removable only by the dentist.

These options are not right for everyone. Uncontrolled gum disease, heavy smoking, some medical conditions, or too little bone for grafting to fix may point toward a well-made conventional denture or a tooth-supported bridge instead.

The Process

How a Multi-Tooth or Full-Arch Restoration Is Built

  1. Records and design: Examination, digital X-rays and impressions of both jaws. For larger cases, a trial set-up is used to check tooth position, lip support and bite before surgery is planned.
  2. Preparing the mouth: Treating gum disease, removing teeth that cannot be saved, and grafting bone where needed.
  3. Implant placement: Under local anesthesia, implants go into planned positions. Temporary teeth may be attached, or your current denture is adjusted to wear over the healing sites.
  4. Healing: The implants bond with the bone, usually over 2 to 6 months.
  5. Connecting and fitting: Abutments or attachments are fitted, a try-in checks appearance and bite, and the final bridge or overdenture is delivered.

Full-arch treatment typically takes more appointments than a single crown, spread across several months.

Aftercare

Living With Your New Teeth

The first weeks bring an adjustment period. Speech may feel slightly different and chewing takes practice, so start with softer foods and work up gradually. Mild gum soreness where a prosthesis rests is common early on and is easily adjusted.

  • Fixed bridges: Clean under the bridge daily, and attend professional maintenance visits, when the bridge may be removed for cleaning.
  • Overdentures: Take the denture out to clean it and the attachments daily. The clips wear and need periodic replacement.

Contact the clinic if a prosthesis feels loose, rocks or clicks, a screw or clip breaks, a tooth chips, or the gum around an implant bleeds, swells or discharges. These can be early signs of a mechanical problem or peri-implant infection, and are easier to deal with early. Keep your regular review appointments even when everything feels fine, because screw loosening and early bone changes are often painless.

Planning & Cost

Factors That Shape Your Plan and Long-Term Results

  • Number of implants and whether bone grafting or a sinus lift is needed
  • Fixed or removable design, and the materials chosen
  • Whether temporary teeth are needed during healing
  • Your bite, any clenching or grinding, and the opposing teeth
  • Health factors such as smoking and diabetes control

Implants themselves often last many years, but the teeth on top are subject to wear. Overdenture clips, acrylic teeth and screws need maintenance, and a prosthesis may eventually need remaking. A night guard may be advised if you grind.

Compare

Implant Restorations vs Conventional Dentures and Bridges

Conventional dentures cost less and need no surgery, but they rest on the gums, can move while eating, and do nothing to slow bone shrinkage. A tooth-supported bridge relies on neighboring teeth that must be trimmed.

According to the American Academy of Periodontology, implant-supported bridges and full-mouth implants do not depend on adjacent teeth, help preserve the jawbone, and give more stable chewing. The trade-offs are surgery, a longer timeline and more maintenance visits.

Other Treatments We Offer

Deep Cleaning & Curettage

Gum disease often begins quietly, but if left untreated, bacteria can travel below the gumline where a toothbrush cannot reach, causing pockets of infection.

Flap Surgery

In cases of advanced periodontitis where deep pockets remain after initial cleaning, Flap Surgery may be necessary to save the teeth.

Bone Grafting & Tissue Grafting

Over time, missing teeth or gum disease can cause the jawbone to shrink or the gums to recede, exposing roots and compromising aesthetics.

Implant surgery and restoration

Replacing a missing tooth is a two-step journey: restoring the root and restoring the crown.

Everything You Need to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an implant-supported denture?
It is a denture that snaps onto implants rather than resting on gums. It doesn't slip or require glue.
Can you replace all my teeth?
Yes. We can use multiple implants to support a full set of fixed ceramic teeth.
Is it removable?
We offer both removable options (snap-on) and fixed options (screw-retained) that only the dentist can remove.
How do I clean a fixed bridge?
You use a water flosser and special floss to clean underneath it.
Is it heavy?
No. While stronger than plastic, modern materials are designed to be comfortable and balanced.
How much does it cost?
Costs vary greatly based on the number of implants. We provide a detailed written estimate after your assessment.
